We followed the recipe on the back of our copy of The Gingerbread Man book to make our own gingerbread cookies. We all had the opportunity to measure out ingredients, mix the dough and at the end of the day try the product of all of our hard work.

We spent all week using different mediums to create the feathers of our turkeys. We used magazines, oil pastels, paint, watercolors, tissue paper, and bingo daubers. We had a lot of fun using our creativity to make our turkeys unique!
We had so much fun on our field trip to the farmer's market! Thank you to all of you who came and made this trip so special for everyone in the class!
Congratulations to our 1st quarter Positivity Award winners! These students demonstrate a positive attitude and strong work habits daily in the classroom. They are great role models and wonderful friends to everyone in the classroom! Keep up the great work!
Today we explored our five sense by removing our sense of sight and attempting to paint a simple pictures. We had a lot of fun playing with the water colors and keeping and focusing on the process rather than the finished product. We also talked about Perspective during our Positivity Project time this week and discussed what it might be like to live without sight permanently.
Today we explored our sense of taste by trying a few different flavors. We tried goldfish, marshmallows, spinach, lemons and dark chocolate and had some very interesting reactions.
We practiced our sorting skills using various objects from around the room. We sorted objects by color, shape, size, texture and other measurable attributes.
The month of December was all about gingerbread! We read every gingerbread man book we could get our hands on, about 8-10 and compared the characters and the events. We acted out the story, drew story maps and noticed similarities and differences between all of the different versions of the story. On the back of one of the books we read was the recipe for gingerbread men so we decided to make our own! We took some time during math one day to measure and stir all of the ingredients. Everyone got to add something to the bowl and stir at least once. We also took some time to smell all of the spices that went into the dough, as a whole the class thought that cinnamon smelled great but the rest were pretty gross!
We played the game headbands with our Letterland friends. We gave each other clues about Letterland friends they couldn't see might be without telling the name or the sound. After we played the game several times we chose our favorite Letterland friend, painted them and wrote some clues for friends to guess in the hallway. |
