Everyday we have about an hour and a half of Daily Five. During this time the students rotate through five different activities: Read to Self, Read to Someone, Listen to Reading, Word Work, and Meet with the Teacher. In between these activities we come together as a whole group to work on reading strategies.

Congratulations to our Quarter 2 award recipients! These students work exceptionally hard everyday to improve in all areas of their lives at school! These five students are excellent role models in the classroom both academically and socially! They all keep very positive attitudes and are great friends to everyone in the room!
Our unit in math this week was 2D shapes! Students explored 2D shapes in many different ways. Students used play dough and wiki sticks to form 2D shapes. They used the 2D shape pattern blocks to form pictures and designs using the shapes. Students also played 2D shape games like go fish using shape cards and memory. As a whole class we went on a shape hunt around the school and our classroom to find these shapes in our daily lives. We also looked through magazines to find shapes in the world around us. We sang songs everyday about the different attributes of each shape and became experts on vertices and sides!
