This week we talked all about what it means to be thankful! We read stories about thanksgiving and discussed why we say thank you. This fit not only with the upcoming holiday but also with our social studies unit about wants and needs. We created lists of the items in our lives that were things we wanted vs. the things that we needed. I was very impressed with the high level thinking that took place when creating these lists, several children were debating the organs in our body that we needed to survive! After we created these lists we spent the rest of the week writing about the things in our life that we were grateful for, both our wants and or needs. Our final activity of our project was our thankful tree. Each student put two handprints on our tree and in one hand print wrote a want that they were thankful for and in the other wrote a need.
